Suzuribako Japanese urushi lacquer. Techniques of gold and silver Takamaki-e, showing a japanese screen with 6 panels, on a silver backgroung with a Shirabyoshi dancer, with a dress typical of the Heian period, on Togidashi lacquer. Very fine border of phoenix and foliages. The back is showing the technique of embossing, as we can see on the oldest screens from the XVII and early XVIIIth centuries. On the back of the cover, a partridge on the moonlight. Japan EDO (1603-1868) Early 18th century – circa 1700 – 1710. From the Maurice Feuillet and Jacques Doucet Collections, n° 62 of the catalogue from the Jacques Doucet’s Collection. Exhibition : L’Art Oriental by M. Raymond Koechlin on may 1925.
