18th Century Frankenthal Porcelain Monk figure

A rare Frankenthal porcelain statuette depicting a monk holding a goose with his left hand and a basket of eggs in his right hand.
On the back a bunch of wheat in which hides a woman's head!

The monk's head serves as a stopper for this statuette-shaped bottle.

The rock-shaped base is embellished with gold.

In order to escape the royal edict granting the Manufacture de Vincennes exclusivity in research, the manufacture of hard porcelain and the use of gold in decoration, the Hannongs settled in Frankenthal in 1755, close of Strasbourg and realized, well before Sèvres, hard porcelains of very high quality.

This rare statuette, full of humor is an example.

Signed Frankenthal with Hannong's "H"

Very good state.
