A Louis XV buffet Provençal Arlésien

Provencal credenza in carved and waxed walnut. It opens with two leaves with polyhedron and embedded paneling where run large and deep moldings. The left door has a false frame. The lower cross is fretted, the upper one long. The previous amounts are straight, rounded ending with small arched feet with volutes, remounted gorges decore enhanced with flowers and foliage. The sides are quadrangular paneling. The set is capped with a wooden top with double crossbows. The whole receives a generous decor of floral style called today "Arlesian". Wedding furniture par excellence, the work of sculpture is strongly focused, on the wishes lavished on the newlyweds. The heart symbolizes the indestructible vows of eternal love, the flowered vase from which spring flower stems symbolizes fertility and wheat for prosperity; all giving to this piece of furniture all the exuberance of the decorative arts typical of Provence. A beautiful polished metal ornamentation of large hinges with laces and perforated hinges, end discreetly to give this piece of furniture its nobility. It should be noted that the manufacture of the furniture belonged to the groom's family, the quality and the density of the sculptures demonstrated the power and the place in the society of lou novi. The fittings were the responsibility of the bride; the more they were gracious and generous, the more the dowry was beautiful. It was said then that the bride was well ironed. Provencal work of the second part of the eighteenth century, around 1770-1780. Observations: This very neat furniture is totally in its original state, is exceptional the bowl to be kneaded always present and the tray is not fixed which is excessively rare. Devolving in the making of bread, these removable vats took advantage of bakeries lost their interests and were quickly removed to increase the capacity of interior storage. Of course the bowl of our credence can be removed and the tray pegged without any problem.

Dimensions length 147.5cm, depth 65cm, height 96cm.
