View of Donington Park - Theodore de Bruyn (1730-1804)

The Bénézit tells us of him: "he was born in 1730 in Antwerp or Amsterdam, he died in 1804 in London, .... Landscape painter he was the pupil of Nicolas Van Den Bergh in Antwerp ....... he later settled in London where he exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1773 to 1803. "

This great landscape of the English countryside represents a view of Donington Park in Leicestershire.Theodore de Bruyn seems to have been the painter of the great properties of the English countryside,

The works that we have found from him basically take up this theme: "View of Luxborough Hall, View of Mansion Painshill, Estate of Benjamin Bond Hopkin, View of Chatsworth House". Following Georges Lambert (1700-1765) and like Richard Wilson 1713-1782, Theodore de Bruyn was one of the singers of the English campaign which he was able to perfectly restore the atmosphere.

This painting was probably exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1799 under number 536.

It is signed and dated 1798 down the center.
We undertook to clean this work that had been rentoilée previously.

Frame dimensions 109 cm x 81 cm, 94 cm x 65 cm.
