Screw nutcracker in the shape of a crocodile. Late 18th century.

An exceedingly rare screw-thread nutcracker in the shape of a crocodile with fully scaled body and stylized head with widely opened beak. The tail serves as a handle for the screw-thread. Fruitwood. Probably French. Late 18th century. Dimensions: length 24,5cm ; height 3,5cm ; width 4,2cm In very good condition with a beautiful patina and fully functional. A small piece of wood is missing from the upper side of the tail.
