An important "Minnekästchen" in walnut. The lid is carved with standing images of the married couple. To the left, there is the lady, holding a flower in her hand and dressed in long garments which are draped into typical gothic folds. To the left, there is the male character : a knight in full body armor, his left hand resting on his shield and holding a banner into the other, around his middle he is carrying his sword. In the middle there are the arms of the couple, placed above each other onto a waffled background. The arms are repeated to the front of the casket, as well as onto the side panels but there they are center by two different grotesque, dragonesque creatures with human faces.
Made from walnut with a dove-tail construction, partially carved with the original wrought iron handle, hinges and escutcheon. A suitable and functional, but possibly later key. The interior is covered in a later floral pattern embroidered textile.
