Alcide Le Beau (1873-1943) - The Chausey Islands
Alcide Le Beau was born in Lorient in 1873. Starting at a young age, he is passionate about painting. He is first a teacher before becoming an artist, and it is when he visits Pont-Aven on his free time that he starts painting.
In 1886, Le Beau participates in exhibitions at the Le Barc de Boutteville Gallery in Paris.
In 1903, he exhibits at the Salon des Indépendants in Paris and then in 1905, at the Salon d’Automne in room VII, (the same room where the group of artists “cage aux fauvres” were qualified by the art critic Louis Vauxcelles). Presented in this room are the paintings of Derain, Matisse, [...]
