A very vivid memory, in this part of the Guisanne Valley, remains that of the exploitation of the ice, every year from May to September, between 1884 and 1920.
From large blocks, extracted from the glacier with dynamite, the ice is cut into pieces of 50 centimeters.
Loaded on carts that go down the Arsine trail to the village of Casset and, after a storage step in Briançon, they leave for the coolers of Marseille by the railway, opened in 1884 from Briançon.
