Painter of mythological compositions, genre scenes, animated landscapes, landscapes.
Pupil of Jacob Backereel and Fierlants of 's-Hertogenbosch. In 1664, he was a member of the Academy of Painting in Paris. In 1672 he was admitted as a master in the Gilde in Antwerp. He stayed in Rome from 1674 to 1682, and spent the rest of his life in Antwerp.
