A Comtadine Wardrobe 17th Century Circa 1670

A Comtadine Wardrobe 17th Century Circa 1670
Belle is rare small cabinet Comtat Venaicin (Coumtat Venessin) of the second half of the seventeenth century, polychrome lacquer and golden varnish. Rectangular maritime pine frame assembled with mortise tenons on the front and clavé on the back, surmounted by a fixed molded cornice making pendant to that of the bottom, its sides are flat. It opens on the front with two doors with quadrangular panels of squares and lozenges of walnut wood strongly molded. The set is based on round feet said loaf. A very beautiful decoration in polychrome produced by Roman craftsmen coming to decorate the houses of the rich nobility contadine of Italian origin. Where winged and chubby Puttis rub shoulders, birds perched on foliage, vases of exuberant bouquets of flowers, garlands of plants or flowers and other ribbons or generous tracery on a black green background enhanced with golden varnish. The interior is furnished with three shelves also in maritime pine, claved on the frame; below the median slide two drawers of the same essence. It is worth noting slight wrinkles of time, at the right end of the cornice and on the stop must of the amount and an old repair at the end of the left return of the low cornice as well as occasions of the decoration. The feet in loaves were reported or changed in the nineteenth century. Work of Comtat Venaicin, Carpentras around 1670. Dimension: height 189.5cm, high cornice widths 128cm, low 118cm, depths 49cm, 51cm at the doors. Inside depth 43cm.
