After his Rome Prize in 1858, Henner discovered the light of Italy and Giorgione who, with Le Correggio, definitely impressed his work. His wispy style wrapped in characteristic muted tones, the carnation of his models, his nymphs, his bathers, his nudes is a very personal method that allows him to poetically blur the outlines of young red women he took for models , profile their ivory flesh on the dark green bottom of the undergrowth.
Henner bequeathed part of his workshop to the Museum of the City of Paris.
