Japan, a Kogai decorated lacquer inro, Edo period, 18th c.

A four sections Ro iro lacquer inro, decorated in gold Takamaki e, Kirikane and silver Takamaki-e with kogai. A kogai is a small instrument that can be found in the side of a katana opposite to the knife called kozuka. Nashiji lacquer inside.
Provenance: Collection Haviland, sale catalogue 1922, n°77 page 19 and 21 for a picture.
