Taddeo Zuccaro (1529-1566) Study for a Seated Figure

This important drawing with its massive figure of a Seated Man is typical of Taddeo Zuccaro 1529-1566 and similar to the Group of Shepherds in an Adoration drawing for the Mattei Chapel period circa 1550 in the pensive, bearded, central figure leaning on his hand. The hands with thin tapered fingers that can be seen in the onlookers of that composition John Gere points out are stylistic signatures of Zuccaro. Exhibited in the Birmingham Museum of Art.
