Tempera on wood panel with kowcheg. Russian/ Volga Region/ Kostroma circa 1660-1680 Saint Dimitrios of Thessaloniki is a greek matyr from the 3rd to the 4th century and is one of the most important saints of the Eastern Church. The saint is riding on a white horse depicted in a landscape with architectural background. With his spear he is killing the Bulgarian Czar Kalojan, he besieged the Greek city of Thessaloniki in the year 1207. Top left Christ is blessing in a cloud bank, on the right brings an angel the victor crown of martyrs. Good state of preservation, restoration in the vertical section.
