A lot of delicacy and freshness for this throw of flowers
Coming from a modest background, this Charentais artist learned drawing in college of Saintes. After a start in house painting, it was at the age of 17,
that he turns to easel painting.
Although he painted some landscapes, genre paintings or family portraits, it is in the specialty as a painter of flowers, which he best displayed his originality and his true talent.
Around 1879, 1880, he starts the battle and manages very quickly to win next to
florist painters already famous such as H. Biva, H.Cauchois, A.Cesbron and many others.
Thanks to an unparalleled knowledge of floral anatomy, a solid and weightless touch, a frank palette , the success is at the rendezvous.
In 1881, the Musée des Beaux-Arts of Pau bought him a work "Grenades and Chrysanthemums". But
his crowning achievement was the awarding of an honorable mention in 1888 for "Flowers and Fruit" exhibited that year at the Paris Salon.
He will flood many years Salons and galleries of its garden corners.
He will exhibit regularly at the Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux and Pau Salons.
In 1882, he will be appointed curator of the Museum of La Rochelle.
