Pair of Nubian torch statues polychrome wood and giltwood with painted pedestal.
Mainly produced in Venice, these highly decorative objects, with themes of exoticism and everything that came from the Orient, the Far East, then America and Asia, were very popular in the West since the 18th century and until the end of the 19th century. Note the unusual presence of a turbaned child on the shoulder, and headdresses, rather inspired by the American Indians, Venice, 19th century. Dim. statue alone 121 cm.
