Beautiful pair of bronzes mounted lamps. They represent two canephores on their black marble base.

Two signatures -LVE .Robert and the AD monogram surmounted by a star for the founder Auguste de la Fontaine.

Height 53 cm-base 17 cm in diameter.

For lamp use it would change the electrification.

Louis Valentin Elias ROBERT (1821-1874)

French sculptor born in Etampes June 6, 1821, died in Paris April 29, 1874), Robert follows the teaching of David d'Angers and James Pradier
He begins to exhibit at the Salon of 1845.

He receives many commissions for the Louvre Palace: Rabelais; Jacques Heart; Science ; Industry The music ; Phryne; a group of Cariatides then works for the Paris Opera (Cariatides), the Théâtre du Châtelet (Drama), the station Austerlitz (Agriculture: Industry), the Conservatory of Arts and Crafts (Vaucanson, Serres) , the Commercial Court (The Law), the Gathered Shops (Agriculture - Industry).
He is also the author of the statue of Geoffroy Saint Hilaire (Etampes), Marshal Jourdan (Limoges) and Pedro IV (Lisbon, Portugal).

He is decorated with the Legion of Honor in 1858.
