This precious mirror made of tinted red tortoiseshell and gilt bronze applications is a fine example of a great refinement proper to works of art made in Antwerp workshops in the seventeenth century. Rectangular shape it has a triple frame molded ebony. The outer frame is made of alternating oval cabochons of tortoise shell and tortoiseshell rectangles underlined with ivory nets. The four cabochons in the shape of hearts at the corners bring elegance to the whole. The intermediate frame in tortoiseshell veneer is adorned with gilded bronze applications with an angel's head. All the cabochons are underlined by a gilded bronze strapping allowing to highlight them.
