Renaissance surgical amputation saw Circa 1600.

A rare surgical amputation saw. The hack saw blade is fixed within a steel frame ornamented with profile heads of a healthy and a sick zoomorphic creature - the latter sticking out its tongue - to the terminals. The saw is mounted on a turned wooden handle inlaid with bone roundels. South German or North Italian. Renaissance. Circa 1600. Dimensions: length 58,5cm
