Our work is perhaps one of the paintings exhibited by the artist in Neuchâtel, in 1882, under the title of “La Tène. Shore of the Neuchâtel Lake (1880).” (Godet, 1893, p. 221, No. 117) or “La Tène. October 1881.” (Godet, 1893, p. 221, No. 118) or, in 1884, “At la Tène. Shore of the Neuchâtel Lake. (Godet, 1893, p. 222, No. 128).
Regarding the artist and the Swiss lakes, read in the book by Philippe Godet dedicated to the artist (1893) the pages 177-179.
La Tène is located at the eastern end of the Neuchâtel Lake. It is an archaeological site discovered in 1857 located in the territory of the Swiss commune of the same name. The place gave its name to a prehistoric period (second period of the Iron Age).
