Ink and colors in natural pigments on gold leaf. This 6-panel screen retraces a chapter in the history of the "Dit du Genji" (Genji Monogotari) Japanese medieval novel in the 11th century written and attributed to Lady Murasaki Shikibu. The colors, of great freshness as well as the characters in situation and the different dwellings on bottom of mountains testify of the life and the occupations of this time. Origin: Japan. Period: Edo 18 / 19th century. Very good conditions according to the age. Dimensions: 286 xH109cm. (112.2"x42.8")
