Renaissance bronze ,a Bust of Satyr

The pointed ears and horns inform us immediately on the identity of our character: A satyr, companion of Bacchus. The twisting of the neck gives movement to the sculpture, and the treatment of hair and beard by wicks too. The mouth will strengthen the expressiveness of this face.

We can bring our bronze closer to another, the one preserved at the Herzog Anton Ulrich-Museum (Braunschweig). On Page 80, we find this bust under the number 45 in the catalogue, "Bronzen der Renaissance und des Barock" by Ursel Berger and Volker Krahn, Flanders Guss, after an Italian model , Second quarter of the XVII century
