Furniture and Works of Art from the 17th, 18th and early 19th century
T was in the seventeenth century that the tea trade began. Transported in wooden boxes, the tea is then conditioned mostly in sheet metal. The Europeans will manufacture a whole range of boxes of various shapes and sizes and in various materials such as ivory, silver metal, lacquer or painted metal.
In the eighteenth century, these boxes are decorated with Chinese scenes, featuring pagodas, birds, lake landscapes.
