Checa y Sanz Ulpiano
Patinated bronze figure of an indian on his horse.
Signed on the base U.Checa and stamped with the fondry mark ancienne Maison Colin.
Circa 1906

Checa y Sanz was a spanish painter and sculptor, grand prix of Rome in 1884 and exhibited regularly at the Salon of French artists. He won numerous medals as in 1900, at the World's Fair in Paris, a gold medal.
He did very little sculpture.

Maison Colin was an art foundry located at 29 rue Sévigné in Paris from 1843, took part in numerous Universal Exhibitions, including that of Chicago in 1893 and the Universal Exhibition of 1900 crowned with a "grand prix". This House worked with renowned artists like Carrier Belleuse, Marioton, Rozet ...
