Jules Herbays was born in 1866 in Ixelles (Brussels). Died in 1940.
Belgian school of the 19th-20th centuries
He was a pupil of Jef Lambeaux at the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. He started in Ghent around 1891 and was one of the founders of the art circle "Le Sillon".
He has exhibited regularly at the Salon Triennaux de Belgique and participated in the Salons of the National Society of Fine Arts in Paris.
He owned a workshop at 182 Crown Avenue in Ixelles.

The foundry H.Luppens et Cie had its workshops in Saint-Gilles at No. 15 rue de Danemark in Brussels, foundry, publisher, bronzier d'art.
