This painting depicts a party thrown in guardroom with officers and courtesans. The compostion and figures ares closes to Flemish painter Christoffel van der Lamen (1607-1651), especially comparing to his painting "Merry Company" in Prado Museum, Madrid (oil on panel 47x63 cm). Specialised in this particuliar field of genre scenes, he depicted a group of peope drinking, eating, playing music. He was a pupil of Frans Francken the Younger.
