Satinwood Commode

This is a lemonwood and amaranth wood plated commode that has five drawers with three rows that open towards the front. There are two long drawers that are separated by a “traverse”. Three more drawers are located on the “belt” of the commode and are underlined by a bronze border. The angular/rectangular handles embellish each drawer.
The commode is perfectly rectangular and having the corners stick out makes the commode even more dynamic.
The two front half-moon rounded corners are decorated by large brass fluting. The “brettée” can be found just above the fluting.
The commode is topped off with a “brocatelle d’Espagne” and has a brass openwork gallery that wraps around the top. It stands on four feet that are in the shape of a spinning top and are made out of amaranth wood. The tips of the feet are decorated with bronze and have an ornamental ring around them that is gadrooned.

This commode is part of a set that includes a secretary desk in which both pieces have identical decoration.
