Pair of dressing-tables stamped Jacob Frères Rue Meslée and Jacob D.R.Meslé

The first one dated between 1796 and 1803
The second one dated between 1803 and 1813

These mahogany dressing-tables open with a drawer in the apron. They are covered with a white marble. A lozenged bronze ended in a palmette decorates the keyhole. The rond, tilting mirror is hold by two mahogany columns.
The legs are joined by a mahogany stretcher, and on the sides by two crossbars decorated at the point of intersection with a piece of bronze.
During the Empire period, this type of piece of furniture was a part of the furnishing of bed-rooms. They can be seen on engravings of the time and the Jacobs realised a number of them.

Jacob Frères rue Meslée : this stamp fits with the association between Geroges II Jacob and François -Honoré -Georges Jacob, both brothers and son of Georges Jacob.
This stamp was used by the brothers between 1796 and 1803, date of the Georges II' death.

Jacob D.R.Meslée : after the death of his brother, François-Honoré-Georges take his father into partnership till 1813, one year before he died.
