This beautiful console table is plated in mahogany and has rounded corners. On the apron there is a big drawer that opens towards the front, and two little drawers on the sides.
The console table stands on fluted feet which are connected by a shelf in white marble with rounded corners and lined with brass. The legs are a decorative mixture of carved and fluted.
There is beautiful gilded bronze ornamentation that is finely chiseled and located on the “rais de cœur”, keyholes, handles, and “grattoirs”.
It is topped off with a “blanc veiné” marble and is enveloped by a “gate” and outlined by bronze.
Jean-Frédéric BIRCKEL, (1746-1809), became a master June 13, 1786.
He was born in Beblenheim, Alsace. He started working in 1782 on rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine in Paris.
Jean-Frédéric is known for producing Louis XVI furniture of excellent technique in various veneers, including mahogany.
