Old Master painting from the end of the 16th century. Flemish School. Ca. 1580.
Adam and Eve Expulsion from Paradise.
The painting depicts two different scenes : the Creation of Adam and Eve, represented naked due to their innocence, and their Expulsion from Paradise. It is very interesting to notice that Eve is still represented naked when expulsed by God (on the opposite to Adam) as if to innocent her of the original fault.
Oil on copper, some restorations. Good state of conservation.
The size is 58 x 48 cm (picture) and 80 x 69 cm (frame).
