Silver mask of a female deity. Roman. 1st half of 2nd century A.D.

A beautiful miniature mask made of hammered "repoussé" silver with traces of the original gilding, depicting a young female deity. Possibly, this mask was made to enrich a large wooden statue of the goddess at a temple.

Roman. Hadrianic period. 1st half of 2nd century A.D.

Dimensions: height (with stand) 15cm ; height (of the mask) 9,5cm ; width 7,3cm

Provenance: private belgian collection, before 1980.

Mounted on an old turned wooden base (circa 1900)
