Fragment, losses and repairs.
This fragment is a seldom testimony of rather elegant shape which only few example in the world still survive. The body is decorated with dancing maenads in extatic attitude. They hyde her hand in the sleeves of her chiton producing an effect of « wing sleeves ». One of them is represented with the face in a front view. That may be explained as a vulnerable state associated with her drunkness.
In the field above the scene, some inscriptions in added red « KALOS » ( ?).
