16th Century Study of the Belvedere Torso

The present study shares some stylistic qualities with artists in Michelangelo's circle such as Heemskerk and Figino, the last artist made similar studies in pen and ink of the celebrated Belvedere Torso. The torso was much loved by artists such as Michelangelo and it has been thought to have become the inspiration of many of the the ignudi on the Sistine Chapel. Acquired as attributed to Annibale Carracci.

With a delicate study of drapery in sanguine on the back.
