Lysimachus Marble Bust

Marble bust representing Lysimachus sometimes named Demosthene, Aristotle or Roman General.
After an antic model preserved in the National Archaeological Museum of Naples.

A similar model, named Pseudo Demosthenes and executed by Peter Scheemakers in the eighteenth century, is exibited in the Trinity College library in Dublin.
Another model very close to ours named Roman General and executed by the sculptor Joseph Wilton in 1758 is exibited in Wentworth house.

Lysimachus (ca. 360 BC - 281 BC) was a Macedonian officer and successor of Alexander the Great, who became King in 306 BC. BC, reigning in Trace, Asia Minor and Macedonia.
