John Lewis Brown (Bordeaux 1829 - 1890 Paris) Painter of the horses, horses racing and hunting scenes, John Lewis Brown came from a Scottish family settled in the Bordelais at the end of the 18th century. Self-taught painter, he learned painting by copying in the museums, especially the works by Delacroix. Brown exhibited for the first time at the Salon in 1848. His paintings are in he museums of Bordeaux, Tours, Reims and in the Louvre, Paris.
