the artist's wife - Mario TOZZI (1895-1979)

An oil on cardboard measuring 33X22 cm (without frame) representing the artist's wife by Mario TOZZI (1895-1979)

After studying at the Académie des Beaux-Arts in Bologna, Mario Tozzi joined the front and then moved to Paris in 1920. He regularly exhibited at the Salon d'Automne, the Salon des Indépendants and the Tuileries, and frequented artists such as Massimo Campigli, Alberto Giacometti, Amedee Ozenfant, Le Corbusier, Alberto Magnelli, Ossip Zadkine and Max Jacob.

In 1928, he took part in the creation of the group of Italians in Paris, where he organized with René Paresce the first exhibition (Les artistes italiens de Paris, February 3 - March 2, 1928) at the Comédie des Champs-Elysées. It also organizes exhibitions dedicated to contemporary Italian art, such as Modern Italian Art, inaugurated at the Bonaparte Gallery in Paris on December 30, 1929, and is quickly experiencing great success. In 1929, the Bernheim Jeune gallery devoted to it, for example, a personal exhibition. The one organized by Bonjean Gallery in 1932 is followed by a monograph in French by the Spanish art historian Eugenio d'Ors.
