Pietro Cappelli (Naples 1646-1734)
Landscape with Ruins and figures
Second half of the seventeenth century
oil on canvas
Size (cm): 101 x 137
frame with 120 x 156
The canvas, representing a port with Roman ruins and figures, is a work that shows strong stylistic affinities with The work of Pietro Cappelli (Naples 1646-1734).
The painting, monogrammed in the lower right with the three letters P AR, can be attributed to the hand of a pupil of his shop, who has drawn from the repertoire of many pictorial aspect hats.
Fixed component in the production of hats is the way he likes to tilt the vegetation by the architecture. Shrubs that grow and hang monuments are in fact a recurring motif in his works. All the distinct elements in our great canvas, which, with a remarkable virtuosity to the light and the shade, combine to certify the attribution.
The state of conservation of the painting is in excellent conditions. The pictorial matter is preserved in an excellent way. The painting is in a modern white lacquered wooden frame. The painting, like all our object is sold with a certificate of authenticity.
