Nice little gouache, entourage or workshop of Jacques Charlier (1720-1790), depicting a young woman singing, probably a muse or possibly Venus, surrounded by putti and doves. Italian rococo frame of the middle of the eighteenth century, with some lacks yet beautiful.

"Pupil of François Boucher, who inspired him throughout his career, Jacques Charlier was a member of the Academy of St. Luke. Protected by the Comte de Caylus and the Prince de Conti, he specialized soon in small size works, and was appointed miniature painter patented by the king. Known are mainly gouaches, often oval. "
