Elegant tapered case in jasper with gold mounting. This mount is adorned with rocailles motifs where dolphins, foliage and flowers intertwine, from putti
A diamond button serves to open the hinged lid. This type of case most likely served to hold small personal or writing objects.
These patterns, as much as the shape of the case, are characteristic of the fashionable English "rocaille" objects in the years 1750-1770.
