A pair of gilt wood allegorical figures, XVIIIth century

An elegant neoclassical pair of sculptures, realised in giltwood, second half of the XVIIIth century.

One of them es wearing a tunic showing her nude torso, a ruban hanging from her hair. She stands leaning on a trunck with her right arm. The other figure is leaning on a small wall with her left arm and holds a manuscript. Both figures show the same contrapposto position and slightly tilting their head, producing thus a beautiful sinuous curve with their bodies.
