Silver medallion

Miss Jeanne-Phuliberte Ledoux (Paris, 1767 - Belleville, 1840) studied with Jean-Baptiste Greuze, the influence of her master is clealy visible in this fine miniature portrait. She exhibited at the Paris Salon 1793-1819, at the Douai (North of France) Salon in 1823. She was very fashonable in the artistic Parisian society; the famous Peter Adolph Hall made her portrait in miniature in 1791 (Wallace collection, London); Greuze painted her too (oil on canvas; Durham, Caroline du Nord, coll. Dr et Mme James H. Semans).
