Bronze figure of St Mark and St Luke, Italy late 16th early 17th century

Rare St. Mark and St. Luke, two of the four evangelists.

They are shown with their respective tetramorph for St. Mark it is the Lion, for Luke it is the bull. St. Mark is shown a pen in hand, a lion at his feet, currently writing his Gospels.

Luke, meanwhile, is represented pensive his left hand on his chest, along with a bull.
These two bronzes in transparent brown patina, were created in Italy in a Veneto-Paduan workshop or a Roman workshop.

They are fairly large: about 38 cm high.
