Nicolaes Berchem, Flemish painter active in the seventeenth century, belongs to that group of Dutch painters who, since the sixteenth century, they decide to stay in Italy, fascinated by the artistic richness, to study and broaden their culture. Resided there from 1642 to 1653, drawing by the Roman countryside themes of its landscapes, specializing in a pastoral views.
These painters bring bring a feeling of the landscape that will affect the next Italian art, laying the foundation of modern landscape painting.
