An Empire mahogany secretaire attributed to Jacob Desmalter. The white marble top above a frieze drawer, over a fall front opening to reveal several drawers below a four column theatre adorned with a mirror, and a green leather writing surface. The two doors below opening to three long drawers with individual locks, flanked by two columns with bronze capitals.

Paris circa 1810

Jacob-Desmalter (1803-1813) is the company founded by Georges Jacob (1735-1814) and his son François Honoré Jacob Desmalter (1770-1841).

A similar secrétaire is housed in the collection of the Palais de Fontainebleau (Inv. F5678)
