Son of the sculptor Pierre Lucas, he was a student and then a professor at the Academy of Toulouse, between 1764 and 1791.

He succeeded Peter Rivalz in 1785 as a draftsman at the Academy of Sciences of Toulouse.

He is responsible for the relief of Twin Bridges, carried out between 1773 and 1775 in Toulouse, the high altar of St. Peter's Church Carthusian Toulouse carved between 1780 and 1785, and the cenotaph of Joseph and Jean François Sylvestre Roux Puyvert polychrome marble in St. Roch chapel at St. Stephen's Cathedral in Toulouse.

He is also the author of some of the carved decoration of the Château de Saint-Elix-le-Chateau mostly disappeared today.

Much of his work can be seen at the Musée des Augustins in Toulouse.
