A rare 19th century gilt bronze and enamel set composed of a mantel clock and a pair of two-light candlesticks in Louis XV style, decorated with animated foliages and rocaille. The set is richly adorned with Limoges painted enamels depicting Gods' love adventures. The dial with Arabic numeral for hours features Venus, the goddess of love, on clouds in the company of four winged Cupids. It is topped by a vase heightened with polychromatic bunches of flowers and ormolu plug. Candelabra barrels illustrate the myth of Europe, abducted by Zeus metamorphosed in a white bull. Enamel plates signed "HD".
The clock is marked behind the dial : "JAPY FRERES & Cie / GRANDE MED. D'HONNEUR". Original movement, cleaned and in working condition. Very good condition.
