Volaire The Knight collaborated with Joseph Vernet in the realization of the famous Louis XV command: main ports in France which has contributed to his known. But it is from 1767 when he arrived in Naples , the final stage of his "grand tour" that the painter realized many of his works the most known and recognized today.
It soon became famous for his depictions of Vesuvius erupting and various scenes of fire as well as the Italian painter Carlo Bonavia (1729-1795) These scenes , painted at night, make the glow of molten magma and flames of a fire even more intense and thereby helps to strength the dramatic atmosphere. Three years before the artist's death , the revolutionary events in France have caused a stir to Rome. Thus, the Academy of France was driven out of the Villa Medicis by Roman little "sensitive" to our ideals of the moment! The artists then took the road to Naples and some joined the Volaire knight.
