Gaston Roullet was born November 17, 1847 at Ars in Charente-Maritime in France. He was a pupil of Jules Christmas. It begins at the Paris Salon in 1874 and became the official painter of the Navy. Gaston Roullet is a painter of landscapes and seascapes. He was appointed official painter of the Navy in 1885 because he produced many paintings with subject sea in France or abroad. Indeed, Gaston Roullet travel the world, especially Asia where it relates works developed on the banks of the Red River and Mekong. He painted as shown in the corresponding World scenes from Africa, Oceania, Indochina and Canada, but also many sites coasts of Brittany and Normandy. Gaston Roullet is decorated Knight of the Legion of Honour in 1895. He died in Paris in 1925.
