Vase, Johann Loetz Witwe, Candia Papillon decoration, ca. 1898
Organic shapes were extremely popular at the Bohemian glassworks Johann Loetz-Witwe in Klostermuehle and the designers of the manufactory created a variety of floral objects. Especially rose sprinklers and rod flowers were favoured in the early days of Loetz and were produced in many decoration variants. This pair sticks out with its vivid decoration and silver overlay, which gives it an even more eye catching effect.
