Rare pair of ponteuse chairs stamped Louis Charles Carpentier, in natural beech, Louis XV period.
This type of chair, created by cabinetmakers in the mid-18th century, was designed for the aristocracy with a passion for gambling, in order to participate in or attend games, particularly card games, but also for conversation. The simple molding and scrollwork forming the decor, the backrest ending in an upholstered cuff, and the trapezoidal seat allowing men to sit astride, resting on four arched legs, give this pair of chairs elegance and lightness. They are in perfect condition.
